The idea of progress
How the American’s opinion has has the opinions of Americans changed since the last century about homosexuality?
.
Introduction:
Today there are only 38% of Americans who don’t have a negative opinion about homosexuality. The Government tried to protect them, in a regulated way, against discriminations. Some states of America took measures to confer to a homosexual couple a position close to a heterosexual couple. However, homosexuals represent just over 1% of the country’s population. They are most of the time concentrated in the North-East of the USA.
.
Development:
The first state of America who which adopted the wedding marriage for homosexuals is the Massachusetts, which is located in the North-East. It was in May 2004 and took 11 years to be adopted all across the country. But even if all the states can marry homosexuals it doesn’t mean that they are all agree, lots of them voted constitutional amendments prohibiting same-sex marriage and same-sex civil unions before 2015.
.
After years of debate, all the members of the LGBT community can integrate any position in the army and have the right to same-sex marriage. But there are still oppositions; the fact is that LGBT communities are 4 times more likely to be affected by violence. These movements of contestation are coming from the community of white evangelical Protestants, having supported more than 80% the presidential candidacy of D. Trump. Only one quarter of them said that they are tolerant to the LGBT community.
.
One of the significant points was the murder of 49 people and 53 injured during the 1st anniversary of the marriage for all in a nightclub (Orlando) for LGBT which is the second largest fusillade mass shooting in the country.
Nowadays, with D.Trump, the situation is more complicated. The president didn’t speak about his point of view of LGBT but his vice-president did. He’s clearly oppose opposed to them and he’s responsible to behind the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” (RFRA) which is applied in some southern states of the country, it allows companies to refuse services to non-heterosexual couples.
.
Conclusion:
Finally, we observe that the LGBT communities are less hidden and more affirm revendicative which is a good point for young people. They are suffering of from discrimination and violence by people who don’t know what to do to anything about progress. The average American’s opinion change has changed about their rights and their acceptance, but there is are still people who are resigning in their believe resigned to their beliefs and prejudices . But today the LGBT community is more respected, seen and knew better perceived and better known than before, and fortunately for them.
This community is a source of progress because they fight for their rights, to be seen the way they are and to be recognized as heterosexual couples. Even the opinion of people has changed because they live in the spirit of the time and some of them are more open-mind open-minded or know someone close to them who is homosexual.
