Ta présentation est très bien et ton texte est bien écrit.

We do a lot of search to choose the subject. We haven’t do a brainstorming because we want a subject about the, planet and we choose the compost.

Searches /observations / problematic:

Before finding our problematic, we did a lot of research on compost. After Emma's father sent us documents, which we read.
Then in our research we asked ourselves some questions like Why do compost? And what should you put in the compost?

We did larges search about the compost. The compost must be developed because we must valorize our waste. It reduce the weight of the bin. Making composting compulsory will reduce waste and make people aware of the problem. The compost it’s a natural fertilizer and it’s free. A fertilizer is an element that makes a large and quick production possible.
To finish, there are 2 major reasons to do compost the first is to improving soil quality and the second is to reducing pollution.

In different sites, we see many people do not agree about the citrus fruits I the compost.
So we choose for the problematic “What are the impacts of citrus on compost?

__Hypothesis 1:_

Our first hypothesis is if citrus fruits produce more acidity than other acidic fruits like tomatoes .So the compost with citrus will be more acidic than a compost with just vegetables.

Experiments:

To check this hypothesis, we do some experiments:
The first was to do 6 mini compost with standard composition (control) and with different fruits or vegetables like apples, tomato, kiwi’s and citrus…

mini%20compost.jpg

After creating mini compost, we check all the different compost to know whether the different fruits acidify the compost or not with a pH meter.

ph%20metre.png

Results and conclusion:

We conclude, the pH of compost with kiwis is slightly more alkaline than the PH of compost with thick and thin citrus skins. So no, the hypothesis is false, citrus fruits do not acidify compost more than kiwis.

Hypothesis 2:

The next hypothesis is if the citrus peel is thickest than a vegetable peel .So the compost with citrus peel will be decomposed faster than a compost with citrus peel thick.

Experiment:

To check that , we take all the min compost and we measure their mass with a electronique balance.

Results and conclusion:

To conclude, the hypothesis but is wrong and is better to use thick-skinned citrus fruit than fine-skinned citrus fruit.

Hypothesis 3:

Our last hypothesis is if the citrus decay more slowly than the other fruits. So the compost with just vegetable will be decomposed faster than a compost with citrus.

H3.jpg

Experiment:

To check this hypothesis, we streaked cultures mediums. We done 10 dilutions and we inoculate a culture medium like , Chapman , Drigalski ,BEA (Bile Esculine Azide) , PCA ( Plate Count Agar) and Sabouraud in each session .
To streak cultures mediums , we inoculate 1 mL on the agar medium PCA and 0.1 mL on the other agar medium.

In the session 1 we inoculate just the control compost.

For the session 2, we do the same experiment but with all the mini compost and we don’t take all the dilutions because some of them were not conclusive we see it’s not conclusive when we see the results of the session 1.

And for the session group, it’s the same experiment as for the session 2.

Results and conclusion:

To conclude with the last hypothesis, the Compost with just vegetable will be decomposed faster than a compost with citrus.
The hypothesis is wrong because compost with citrus fruit has a lower bacteria concentration of CFU/ml than the control compost.

General conclusion:

So we can conclude we can put some citrus like oranges, lemons… In the compost because the citrus doesn’t change anything in the compost.
