« The idea of progress »
I am going to talk about the notion « The idea of progress ». To begin whit with, I would like to give a definition of this notion. The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement or a change. It can be a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. So we will ask why AIDS can be considered as a scientific and social evolution. First, I’m going to talk about social evolution. To continue, I’m going to talk about scientific evolution.
.
First of all, AIDS appeared in the 1980’s. It was something new in the world, which was quickly stereotyped. Indeed, AIDS was associated with homosexuality. People with AIDS were frowned upon in society. For example, in the movie “Philadelphia”, there is Andrew Becket, who works in a large law firm and he is a very brilliant lawyer . However, when it is discovered that he has AIDS, he is dismissed on the pretext of “professional misconduct”. Nowadays, the mindset is changing and AIDS is not associated with homosexuals. In addition to that, we no longer flee from affected people. AIDS is therefore a social evolution.
.
To continue, at the beginning of AIDS, there were many deaths since there was no treatment. It was also a period of sexual liberation. People were not informed and were not particularly careful. Affected people would die very young. In the fullness of Over time, scientifics scientists have found a treatment. This treatment allows people with AIDS to live longer. Yet it is a treatment which must be taken every day and which is very heavy. AIDS is therefore a scientific evolution.
.
By way of conclusion, we can say that AIDS contributes to social and scientific evolution because there are not no longer any stereotypes and there is treatment.
